Job Description

Central Connecticut State University invites applications for a full-time, emergency one-year appointment as an Assistant Professor (academic year 2018-2019) in the Department of Music. The person in this position will conduct, recruit for, and administer all aspects of the concert and athletic band programs. Additional responsibilities may include: teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in instrumental music education and conducting; assisting with supervision of student teachers; and teaching applied lessons appropriate to area of expertise. The successful applicant will be an active participant in academic governance at both the departmental and university levels, and perform departmental and university service. Candidates are expected to be committed to multiculturalism and working with a diverse student body. 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Completed Masters Degree in Music from an accredited institution by date of appointment 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Doctorate or ABD in Music from an accredited Institution
  • Proven success in public school teaching (two-three years minimum)
  • College teaching experience
  • Demonstrated musical, financial, and administrative success with college and/or high school concert and athletic bands
